Intelligence Check is an actual play series that's big on the laughs. It's a light-hearted show, using D&D 5e rules, set in the homebrew world of the Lichstone Empire. We've got dark and mysterious backgrounds, defensive elephants, weird gambling, oddly specific kobold slaughter, and tentacles. Way too many tentacles.

Episode 41 - Tor’s the Healer
Wednesday Mar 13, 2019
Wednesday Mar 13, 2019
With the spectral guardian of the first floor defeated, our adventurers continue their climb up the wizard Steve's tower. Okay, defeated is a stretch, but history is written by the victors right? Or in this case the ones who didn't run completely away. They just ran out of the tower to force the townsfolk to help them. And they only had one of their team unconscious from being munched on. That's basically the textbook definition of victory!
Reaching the second level, the party comes upon a seemingly innocent group of fairies who just want to play. It turns out that sometimes it is all fun and games overcoming a wizard's security system! Tor brings out a classic party game, while Kort totally overthinks things.
Will they make it to the top of the tower? And if so will they actually try to talk to Steve, or are we looking at a magical stand-off? Will Steve tire of their interference? Will anyone know who the healer is? It might be time for Steve to put his foot down on the whole situation!

Episode 40 - It’s a Trap
Wednesday Feb 27, 2019
Wednesday Feb 27, 2019
Last episode our adventurers had a very self-inflicted run-in with the Yuan Ti. This led to a shocking revelation about a particular sea monster that leaves the party questioning the wizard Steve's motives. Realizing that maybe Blag's previously unjustified threats to the wizard were spot-on, the team decides to return to the tower and put Steve to some hard questions.
Of course things never go that smoothly for these adventurers, and they quickly find themselves debating the merits of using local villagers as cannon fodder. The same villagers they just finished defending. By now it should be clear that these guys are not good people. Once again, they attempt to bluff and confuse their way through a situation. With less than stellar results.
What ghastly discovery will they make when they enter Steve's tower? And just how long will it take them to fight the damn thing already? Will Kort become a monster's snack? That's oddly specific, so very likely yes.

Episode 39 - Tor Fails at Surrendering
Wednesday Feb 13, 2019
Wednesday Feb 13, 2019
It's time for Blag to enter the ominous Steve's Tower. Will Steve even be home? There aren't any windows or doors so you can't tell if there's a light on inside. Apparently he's really in to privacy. How does he get his monthly delivery of "Big Dumb Towers in the Middle of a Small Village Digest"?
With Blag in the most unwelcoming tower ever, the rest of the party is left to find a productive use of their time. Rath makes one of his dreams come true before they venture out to scout the nearby Yaun-Ti village. Those are the snake people they helped defeat in such horrible fashion in the last episode. Probably no hard feelings there.
Is there more going on here than the party suspects? Will Tor be extremely accommodating to a potential enemy? And what very situational new character voice will he debut? Will Kyle burn out on snake people voices? And what word will get banned from future episodes? Here's a hint, it rhymes with Rath groaning in disgust.

Episode 38 - Battle in the Buff
Wednesday Jan 30, 2019
Wednesday Jan 30, 2019
In our last episode the party reached a village of shifters and learned about the mysterious Steve's Tower. Kyle clearly had a better name in mind for that, but the players are basically children and he knows when it's best to just let the kids have their way. Rath was readying himself to be teleported in to the aforementioned Tower when the village came under attack. Deciding it would be best to seek an audience with Steve at a later time, they take to the ramparts to join in the defense.
This would all be very noble of them if Tor and Blag didn't take the opportunity to try out something new that can only generously be described as a battle strategy. If nothing else, it is sure to inspire horror in the enemy, and everyone else around them. Kort invokes the name of Steve to strike just a little more fear in the hearts of the attackers. While Rath utilizes the advanced strategy of aiming for the head. And then Blag goes and takes it to a whole new level of groan-inducing attacks.
Will our party actually contribute to the defense of the villagers? And will they discover more about the mystery of Steve? Will a certain bard learn the consequences of an off-hand comment? And will they somehow manage to offend any Yanni fans who may be listening? It's time to earn that explicit tag!

Episode 37 - Steve's Tower
Wednesday Jan 16, 2019
Wednesday Jan 16, 2019
Some important concepts to know for this episode-
Mind flayer- Mysterious race with tentacles around their mouth. Needs to consume at least one intelligent brain a month to remain healthy. That last one's not related to our story, but is a fun tidbit.
Electricity- Commonly used as a magical barrier. Resistant to hammers. Bad for tieflings.
Separation Anxiety- What can happen when you take a dwarf away from shiny things.
Shifter- A race believed to be descendants of humans and lycanthropes. They smell a little funky. Suspicious of clothing.
Clear communication is important- For example, when a DM hands the players a map with terrible handwriting on it. Any resulting confusion isn't the players' fault.
Mysterious Tower- Mysterious. Especially when you can't decipher the name given to the tower by the DM on their map. Be careful when touching mysterious towers.
And of course, protect your eggs!
